Providence Park Expansion Plan Unveiled

On April 26th, Peregrine Sports LLC, owner of Portland Timbers FC (MLS) and Portland Thorns (NWSL), formally unveiled plans for a major expansion to Providence Park, the clubs’ historic home in the city’s West End neighborhood. Designed by Allied Works, the privately-funded, 4000-seat, four-level structure will provide dramatic accommodation for individuals and groups while maintaining an open public concourse and street-level arcade along 18th Avenue. Uniqlo City Creative Workspace Opens in Tokyo

On March 14, Principals Brad Cloepfil, Kyle Lommen and Project Architect Yuri Suzuki joined the leadership of Fast Retailing to present the company’s new flagship design and distribution facility to the press. Located in Ariake District along Tokyo Bay, Uniqlo City is a 200,000 s.f. creative studio that supports a home staff of 1000 and visiting personnel from the company’s global outlets and production facilities. The project was designed to unite a previously dispersed workforce, and equally, to serve as a creative catalyst to respond to a rapidly changing apparel industry. Continue reading

UK Holocaust Memorial Competition Exhibits Finalist Entries

In November, 2016, Allied Works was selected as a finalist for the forthcoming United Kingdom Holocaust Memorial in London. The project is the culmination of years of advocacy, planning and fundraising by the Holocaust Memorial Foundation; it will be the capstone of an ongoing effort to document and record testimony from the remaining survivors of the Holocaust throughout the UK. The Memorial and an adjacent Learning Centre will be located in Victoria Tower Gardens, immediately south of the Houses of Parliament along the River Thames. Finalist proposals are currently on exhibit in London, and a winning scheme will be announced later this year. Continue reading

Belluschi’s Oregonian Building Given New Lease on Life

The former headquarters of the Oregonian newspaper at 1320 SW Broadway will reopen as prime office and retail space in the heart of downtown Portland. Dormitory project for EF Academy in New York nears completion

Case Work Opens at the Portland Art Museum

On June 4th, Allied Works’ first major exhibition, Case Work: Studies in Form, Space and Construction, opened at the Portland Art Museum, following a three-month run at the Denver Art Museum. Previews and Openings Planned for the National Music Centre of Canada

This fall marks the completion of Allied Works’ most ambitious project to date, Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, in Calgary, Alberta. With 160,000 s.f. of new construction and a complete rehabilitation of the historic, 1905 King Edward Hotel, the NMC will provide space for performances, recording, broadcast, exhibition and interactive education programs. Local audiences will be able to preview the new cultural center beginning in July, with a formal opening and inauguration in October of this year. Continue reading
